"The concept is to take some of the most simple geometric forms and connect them with magnets"
Magnetic - Cluster - table
The table was created for the Cabinetmakers Autumn Exhibition 2015, called ”Petit”. The exhibition was shown at Øregaard Museum and at Maison du Danemark i Paris 2016.
With the geometric archetypes as the focal point Cluster table is in the tension between art and design, where functionality, aesthetics and message are three sides of the same coin. Six double pyramids form the formation, which are held together with hidden magnets. Pyramid shape is a further development of previous work with the geometric archetypes that this creates new interesting juxtapositions. A cluster, which also is a Petit table.
Process
From an earlier project Rasmus had a lot of identical triangles in plywood with walnut veneer. Eight triangles are joined together to form a double Pyramid with hidden magnets.
The double pyramid is one of the strongest and most harmonious polygons and it is also the natural shape of a raw diamond.
