Johan Rhode cabinet

Johan Rhode cabinet
In 2007 I was asked to reconstruct a missing part of a very fine cabinet, made by the Larsen Brothers and designed by Johan Rhode around 1919 for Georg Jensens shop in Copenhagen. The cabinet is now a part of Davids Collection. I studied the original sketches by Rhode at Design Museum Denmark's archives and some old photos of other furniture by Rhode. Finally I made several mock up turnings until I found a shape that would blend in with the cabinet.
The cabinet is made in Ceylon satin wood with some amazing details. A really good example of how much you can learn from studying the old masters.
